What is Six Figure Mama?

I created this blog for hard working mamas like YOU because I was (and still am) just like you. I went to college, got a degree, got a job, worked my way up the corporate ladder because I thought that's what you are supposed to do right? Work hard for 40-50 years then retire and enjoy life?  Having kids changed my perspective.  I realized I needed to find a way to work from home or be my own boss, but I had some pretty specific criteria:

1. I needed to be able to build a business in an hour or two a day because I just had no time.
2. I needed something that didn't have a huge start up cost - I wasn't ready to create a business plan or get a small business loan - plus I didn't have an idea or product!
3. I needed something that had the potential, maybe not right away, but in a few years, that could replace my 6-figure income. We had a house and a hefty mortgage, school costs and were used to a standard of living that I wanted to keep.

There are tons of opportunities out there. I found one that worked for me because it was something that I had an interest in - fitness.  I had been overweight my whole life and being so busy I wasn't working out regularly, and I was eating out a lot.  Those cushy vendor and work lunches/dinners were not doing me any favors.  So as an added bonus, I found an opportunity that met all of the above criteria plus the added bonus of helping me lose weight while building this business. SCORE!

Surely there is something that fits your passion or lifestyle.  Into Beauty? Accessories? Love natural home remedies? Love make-up? Find something that you already enjoy and make it your career. (Check out the Spotlight On" section of my blog for more on companies that are out there) I think many successful women discount these home based network marketing businesses. They think it's all about sales and hitting up your friends and family to buy things. You could not be more wrong.  While certainly several friends and family have become customers and coaches on my team, the majority are people I didn't know before I started this business, who I met online, via social media or my fitness blog, and customers that the company I work with gave me (yes gave me, for free). 

And with the skills you have already learned in the corporate world, and the fact that you have shown that you are a successful person, you would be a step above many who start their own business.
